Terms of Use
Last updated: November 5, 2026
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Seven Eight Ventures LLC (“we,” “us”) about your use of the Stampede app and its related services (“Stampede”). By creating an account or using Stampede, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Stampede.
Who can use Stampede
You must be at least 13 years old to use Stampede. If you’re under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian, and they agree to these Terms on your behalf. Stampede is offered in the United States.
Your account
You sign in with your Apple Account. You’re responsible for what happens on your Stampede account, so keep your iPhone and Apple Account secure. One account per person, please.
How the competition works
Every day, you’re placed in a group with other players at your rank. The day runs from 11 PM to 11 PM Eastern Time. Your steps from Apple Health are counted toward the day, and at the end of the day, where you finish decides whether you move up a rank, stay, or move down.
Pacers. When there aren’t enough players at your rank, we fill your group with pacers: computer-controlled walkers who keep a realistic pace, so there’s always a competition. Pacers aren’t real people.
No prizes. Stampede is free, and there’s nothing to buy. Ranks, results, and bragging rights are just for fun: they have no cash value and can’t be exchanged for anything.
We may change the game. We may adjust how Stampede works at any time, including group sizes, ranks, zones, scoring, and timing.
Play fair
Stampede is only fun if everyone plays fair. You agree not to:
- Fake, inflate, or manipulate your step count, for example by entering steps by hand, using devices or apps that simulate steps, or shaking or attaching your phone to something that moves.
- Tamper with, reverse engineer, or interfere with Stampede, its servers, or its security checks.
- Use more than one account, or use someone else’s account.
- Use bots, scripts, or other automated ways to access Stampede.
We may remove steps, results, or ranks that we believe weren’t earned fairly.
Usernames and conduct
Your username is visible to other players. It must not be offensive, hateful, harassing, sexual, or threatening; impersonate someone else; or include personal information like a phone number or address. You can report a username you think breaks these rules. We may change or remove a username, or suspend or close an account, if we believe it breaks these Terms.
Your health and safety
Stampede is a game, not a medical or fitness service, and nothing in it is medical advice. Talk to a doctor before starting or increasing physical activity, especially if you have a health condition. Pay attention to your surroundings when you walk, follow traffic laws, and don’t use your phone in ways that put you or others at risk. You’re responsible for your own safety, and you take part in physical activity at your own risk.
Step counts
Step counts come from Apple Health and your devices, and they may not always be accurate or complete. Your steps on Stampede may differ from the Health app because the competition day runs from 11 PM to 11 PM Eastern Time. We aren’t responsible for missing or inaccurate step data, and each day’s results are final once they’ve been settled.
Our app
Stampede, including its name, logo, badges, artwork, and software, belongs to Seven Eight Ventures LLC and is protected by law. We give you a personal, limited, non-transferable right to use Stampede on Apple devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, under these Terms. You may not copy, modify, sell, or distribute Stampede, or use our name or artwork without our permission.
Changes and availability
We’re always working on Stampede, so it may change, and parts of it may be unavailable from time to time. We may stop offering some or all of Stampede at any time. If we change these Terms, we’ll update the date at the top, and if the changes are significant, we’ll let you know in the app. If you keep using Stampede after changes take effect, you accept the new Terms.
Ending your account
You can stop using Stampede and delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete Account. We may suspend or close your account if you break these Terms or if we need to for legal or safety reasons. The sections of these Terms that by their nature should continue after your account ends will continue, including the disclaimers, limits on liability, and governing law.
Disclaimers
Stampede is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don’t promise that Stampede will always be available, error-free, or secure, or that step counts, rankings, or results will always be accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Seven Eight Ventures LLC and its owners, employees, and partners won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data or injury, arising out of or related to your use of Stampede, even if we’ve been told such damages are possible. Because Stampede is free, our total liability to you for any claim related to Stampede is limited to $50. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
Indemnity
If you break these Terms or the law while using Stampede, and that leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover the costs, damages, and reasonable legal fees we incur because of it, to the extent the law allows.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a claim, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue informally. Any claim that isn’t resolved informally must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you and we agree to the jurisdiction of those courts. Either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court instead.
Apple
These Terms are between you and Seven Eight Ventures LLC, not Apple. Apple isn’t responsible for Stampede or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. If Stampede fails to meet any warranty that applies, you may notify Apple, and Apple’s only obligation will be any refund the law requires (Stampede is free). Apple isn’t responsible for any claims relating to Stampede, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection claims, or claims that it infringes someone else’s intellectual property; we are responsible for those, to the extent these Terms don’t limit it. You confirm that you aren’t located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and aren’t on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
General
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. If we don’t enforce a part of these Terms, that doesn’t mean we give up the right to do so later. You may not transfer these Terms to anyone else; we may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about Stampede.
