STAMPEDE

Privacy Policy

Last updated: November 5, 2026

Stampede is a daily steps competition made by Seven Eight Ventures LLC (“we,” “us”). This policy explains what information Stampede collects, how we use it, who can see it, and the choices you have. We keep it short and specific: Stampede collects only what it needs to run the competition.

The short version

What we collect

Your account. You sign in with Apple. Apple gives us a private identifier for your account so we can recognize you. Stampede doesn’t ask Apple for your name or email address. We also keep a sign-in token from Apple so that, if you delete your account, we can tell Apple to disconnect Stampede from your Apple Account.

Your username. The username you choose, which other players can see.

Your steps. With your permission, Stampede reads your step count from Apple Health. We only send our servers your total steps for each competition day (11 PM to 11 PM Eastern Time) and the time each total was sent. We don’t read any other health data, and steps entered into the Health app by hand aren’t counted.

Your competition history. Your rank, the groups you were placed in, where you finished each day, and whether you’ve seen each day’s results.

Reports. If you report a username, we keep a record of which username was reported and when. If someone reports your username, we keep that too, so we can review it.

Fair-play checks. To keep the competition fair, the app uses Apple’s App Attest to confirm that step counts come from the real Stampede app on a real iPhone. This stores a security key for your device on our servers. We may also flag step totals that look unusual so we can review them.

Notifications. If you allow notifications, we store a token from Apple that lets us send them to your device.

Technical information. Like most online services, our servers automatically record basic technical information when the app connects to them, such as your IP address, the time of each request, and error details. We use this to keep the service running and secure.

What we don’t collect

We don’t collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, or location. We don’t read any Apple Health data other than steps. We don’t use advertising identifiers, and Stampede doesn’t include third-party advertising or analytics tools.

How we use your information

We use your information only to run Stampede:

Your Apple Health data

Step data from Apple Health is used only to run the competition. We never use it for advertising or marketing, we never sell it, and we never share it with data brokers or other third parties, except the service providers below that help us run Stampede, or when the law requires it. The only people who see your steps are you and the other players in your daily group.

Who can see your information

Other players. Players in your daily group can see your username, your step count for the day, and your place on the leaderboard. They can’t see anything else about you.

Pacers. When there aren’t enough players at a rank, we fill groups with pacers: computer-controlled walkers who keep a realistic pace. Pacers aren’t real people and don’t receive any of your information.

Service providers. We use a small number of companies to run Stampede, and they may process your information on our behalf:

These providers may only use your information to provide their services to us.

When required. We may share information if the law requires it, or if it’s necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of our players, the public, or Seven Eight Ventures LLC.

If the company changes hands. If Seven Eight Ventures LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that deal, and it would remain covered by this policy.

How long we keep your information

We keep your information for as long as you have a Stampede account. Server logs are kept for a limited time and then deleted automatically.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete Account. When you do, we delete your account, username, step history, results, and device security key, and we tell Apple to disconnect Stampede from your Apple Account.

So that other players’ leaderboards and results still add up, your spot in groups you already competed in stays on their leaderboards, but it’s no longer linked to you or your username. If you made reports, they stay on record without your name attached. Copies in our providers’ backups are removed when those backups expire.

You can also stop Stampede from reading your steps at any time in the Health app or in your iPhone’s Settings.

Your choices and rights

You can change your username in Settings, turn notifications on or off in your iPhone’s Settings, and delete your account in the app. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what information we have about you, to correct it, or to delete it. To make a request, email us at the address below. We don’t sell personal information and we don’t share it for targeted advertising.

Security

We protect your information with encryption in transit, access controls, and secure hosting. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe and to collect as little as possible.

Children

Stampede is for people 13 and older. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Where Stampede is available

Stampede is offered in the United States, and your information is processed and stored in the United States.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we’ll let you know in the app before they take effect.
